We celebrated Robert Burns' birthday with a grand hike, poetry reading, music, dinner and toasts of Glenlivet. Shanty Bob and John Drury Skyped in for the goings on from the Pacific and western gulf of Mexico coast.

The morning after our annual Northwoods Stewardship Center concert we once again dined at the Miss Lyndonville Diner for our long anticipated hunter's breakfast!  We left well satisfied!!!

Burns Night 2015!!! - January 28, 2015

We once again gathered to celebrate Robert Burn's in fine style with the piping in the of the Haggis, a round of 12 year old single malt Glenlivet Scotch to toast the man, recitations of poetry and a delicious home cooked gourmet meal. This year we were joined by Owen Lenz, Brian Byrne and our forever band-mate Shanty Bob Smith from Kauai via Skype!

The Wind's annual summer BBQ.  Shanty Bob returned from Kauai to join us for a rousing day of good food and music and a drop of the Black Bush!  Alas(s), Rachel could not be with us this time around.

Ok, we were a month late celebrating Burn's birthday, but HEY we didn't forget.  What a day, playing in the snow, cooking up a fine meal, piping in the haggis (vegetarian!??), Burns poetry readings and playing tunes til the wee hours of a cold wintery February night in Vermont! 


Back to the Northwoods - November 24, 2011

We were back in East Charleston Vermont at the Northwoods Stewardship Center for November. It seems like we were just there yesterday! It's always great to come back. The folks at Northwoods are trying on a new Folk music series for the coming year. We wish them lot's of luck and hope to be there again ourselves next year!!!! It is such a wonderful music venue!

Fall 2011 - October 20, 2011


Lightning Lenz joined the Wind on our tour of west central Vermont with a stop off at the Tinmouth Firehouse Concert series. It's always a fine venue and this time it proved to be great fun. We took a time to bid fond farewell to our bandmate Shanty Bob Smith, who would shortly leave for permanent residence in Kauai. Aloha Shanty Man, we've shared many fine years together on the stage and in our backyards.

North Country Tour - November 13, 2010

Wind that Shakes the Barley returned to the Northwoods Stewardship Center's "Kindgom Coffee House" stage to the joys of a full house. November's temperature was mild in Vermont's north country, for a second year in a row! Is this the result of global warming or is this band just that HOT??!!!  And the band enjoyed another fabulous breakfast next morning at Miss Lyndy's Diner served with that fine North Country hospitality!!!:) 


Wind that Shakes the Barley - October 4, 2010

Wind that Shakes the Barley is preparing for its annual North Country tour to the "Northwoods Stewardship Center" in Charleston, VT. Joining the Wind on this exiciting tour will be John Drury on cittern and guitar and Don Lenz on fiddle, flute and penny whistle.  This promises to be one of our most exciting concerts ever!!! We can't wait to see all our "old" friends up north:)!!!

The Wind is currently.... - April 16, 2010

The Wind is currently trying on new tunes and doing some preliminary recording as they find their way as a trio and prepare for hitting the concert trail in June!!!  Stay tuned to our Music Page as new tunes begin to emerge!!!!

Vermont State House - February 3, 2010

Wind that Shakes the Barley played at concert at the Vermont State House in the House of Representatives to a full "house"!!!!  A fine time was had by all. The Wind was seen later wandering the streets for an after concert stout!!! Thanks to the Farmers Night Series for having the Wind in to play.  

Robert Burns nite with the Wind - January 23, 2010

Our second annual Robert Burns Night extravanza was carried out this year in its fine tradition. A marvelous meal of vegetarian haggis accompanied by potatoes, winter squash, salad, hearty soup, salad and scones. Steve piped the Haggis in as the band and guests paraded the fine dish to the dinner table. A round of Burns poetry, a bottle of Scotch later and a good time was had by all with a fine concert of music to end the evening.  

Wind that Shakes the Barley regroups - November 20, 2009

Wind that Shakes the Barley is currently regrouping as a trio. Shanty Bob has left the band to devote more time to his ukelele, ministry, traveling to Hawaii and keeping life just a little simpler.

Life continues to be exciting for the Wind. We ended the year with a stunning tour of North Country, peforming in Colebrook, NH and East Charleston, VT to full house crowds.

Camel's Hump - August 1, 2009

The Wind along with families and friends scaled the heights of Camel's Hump in Vermont. Celtic Music was heard atop the 4086 foot mountain as the band toted flute, whistles and mandolin to the summit. A glorious day was had by all with mostly sunny skies, no mosquitos, great company and fabuous snacks!!!

Northwoods Stewardship Center - November 22, 2008
